Residents of Second East Hills worked together to implement youth and adult programs to be housed in the new multi-purpose community center, which includes a computer lab, health and wellness center, assembly room and office space. Telesis's contractor hired 25 local residents to work on the construction of the initial phase. Another 80 youth received training in construction and also received basic educational services as part of a $1.3 million Youthbuild grant secured with ACTION Housing that focused on the East Hills neighborhood. The community also participated in building their own playground in October 2005.
